Baltimore is one of the largest cities of Maryland and to let you know the fact that it is not a state capital. The place is situated on the river called Patapsco that is at the top of northwestern fork of Chesapeake Bay. The top of the Bay gives you an amazing view along with the direct access to the Atlantic Ocean. The early European settlings here made Baltimore more like a westernmost ocean harbor.

Baltimore Zoo has an excellent collection of African black footed penguins. The Chimpanzee park is a favorite with the children. Rhinos, zebras and gazelles are also in captivity here. Another exhibit is "Animal Planet Australia". In this exhibit you can explore the amazing diversity of life that is present on the continent of Australia. Learn about fish, birds, invertebrates, mammals, amphibians and reptiles.

Another exhibit is the "Miss Perception's mystery House". Here kids can help to solve a mystery by piecing together clues and evidence hidden in different rooms. Yet another exhibit is "The Diner" where kids can cook and serve food to their parents. This exhibit takes the shape of a 50's diner and allows kids to use math skills to ring up orders and they can also play music on a real jukebox.

Other exhibits at the museum include Dinoquest where you can explore dinosaur fossils, a human body exhibit where you can see the miracles that are in all of us and various traveling exhibits which keep the center fresh and ever changing. The center truly has something for everyone.

The Peninsula attracts equal number of visitors every year that includes the sister islands of Chincoteague and Assateague. The Chincoteague does not consists of an actual beachfront but is a town like area with islandic features, it boosts a variety of restaurants, bicycle rentals, shops, craft galleries, museums and loads of entertainment. You can visit Assateague absolutely free of cost by visiting on the bicycle or on foot.

Baltimore Museum of Art is right next to Johns Hopkins University campus in North Baltimore. It's an important art center, like the private Walter's Art Museum, where important exhibitions are held around the year. Admission is free, except for special shows.

The National Great Blacks In Wax Museum is a unique delight for all history buffs and a great place to visit to appreciate the contributions of many important African-Americans.

Also, one can find tantalizing restaurants, quaint pubs, and beautiful boutiques, along with historical charm and cultural attractions all over the city. A world-class transportation system and pleasant weather enhance the tourist experience.
