Importance of Breakfast

"Breakfast is the most important meal of the day." How many times have we heard this before? If it's so important why is it skipped so much, and why is it integral for a fat burning diet? The reason breakfast is so important is because it breaks the fast you've had overnight, and restocks the body's supplies of glucose and other essential nutrients that are used for energy throughout the day. This is normally essential for the brain and the body first thing in the morning. It's also one of the reasons people who skip breakfast will normally feel tired, irritable, and restless in the morning.

A balanced breakfast must include enough amounts of calories of around 500 calories. This will ensure that your body is satisfied enough to start your day and replenish what is lost for the entire sleep. It should also include sufficient protein to nourish and build your muscles. Carbohydrates must also be enough to provide energy. Together with your carbo, fats are also important so you slow down the absorption of the carbohydrates, hence preventing the sudden peak of sugar levels.

What if you don't feel like eating breakfast? There are many people who are not hungry enough to eat breakfast which is why they choose to not eat that meal. At times lack of sleep or eating too much the night before is a cause of this. Stop eating meals around 8 at night or even sooner so that when you wake up you will be more hungry. Get better sleep as well which will help.

Increase your essential nutrients and overall energy levels: Breakfast provides a significant proportion of the day's total nutrient intake and offers the opportunity to eat foods fortified with nutrients such as foliate, iron, vitamins and fiber. Essential vitamins, minerals and other nutrients can only be gained from food.

Give You Brain fuel To Enhance Concentration: Eating breakfast improves your thinking ability and keeps you at top mental performance. It provides your brain with fuel to enhance problem solving and memory retention.

Children who skip breakfast are also more like to be absent or tardy from school. It's important that parents ensure their children get a healthy start to the day with a great, healthy breakfast every day. Public schools around the country are required to provide a healthy breakfast every morning for students.

If you are unable to provide a breakfast for your child, just get them to school in time to enjoy a healthy meal from the school. During the summer months, or if your child does not attend public school, do your best to always provide a healthy breakfast each and every day.

Another great reason for eating a healthy breakfast is weight loss. Many people skip their breakfast, saying that they're just skipping a few extra calories. However, by skipping breakfast they don't get the energy they need to make it through the day. This leads to snacking or a large meal at the end of the day to replenish lost energy. So in the long run this "skipping" of extra calories is exactly the opposite.
